Russia to send actress Yulia, director to ISS for first movie in space

Moscow, May 14: After NASA and Space X teamed up with action hero Tom Cruise to make a movie on the ISS, another space agency is going to send the actors in the space. Now, the Russia's space agency 'ROSCOSMOS' announced they are going to send an actor and director to the international space station in October to make the first feature film in the cosmos.
The Russian space agency has picked Yulia Peresild, 36, and the director Klim Shipenko, 37, for the space movie. Rocsomos revealed that the “space drama” has the working title Challenge. However, no details surrounding its plot have been given. According to the information given by ROSCOSMOS, the crew is scheduled to begin their expedition on 5 October 2021 from the Baikonur cosmodrome on the Soyuz MS-19 manned transport spacecraft.
The training would including centrifuge tests, flights in zero gravity, and others that astronauts undergo. A mockup of the Russian segment of the ISS will be used to prepare the film crew for their space adventure. This pre-flight boot camp will be documented by one of Russia’s main TV channels, Channel One, which will also be involved in producing the film. Additionally, the space mission would also include a backup crew consisting of actress Alyona Mordovina and camera director Alexey Dudin.
There are chances they could encounter Cruise and Liman who are also traveling to ISS in the Axiom Space Crew Dragon capsule – owned by Elon Musk’s SpaceX company in October this year.
The forthcoming film aims to “popularise Russia’s space activities, as well as to glorify cosmonaut profession”. Apart from this Russia has also announced its desire to launch its orbital station in 2025 as Moscow mulls withdrawal from the International Space Station.
