ISRO's another step towards Gaganyaan! Conducts successful test of liquid propellant Vikas engine

Mahendragiri, July 15: Taking another step further towards its first human space mission 'Gaganyaan', the Indian Space Research Orgnisation on Wednesday successfully conducted the long-duration hot test of the Vikas Engine for the Gaganyaan Programme. With that ISRO has achieved another milestone in its 'Gaganyaan Mission'.
 
Issuing the statement ISRO said that it has completed the final testing of one of the three stages of the launch vehicle that will carry humans to space under the Gaganyaan mission.

IT said, "On July 14, 2021, ISRO has successfully conducted the third long-duration hot test of the liquid propellant Vikas Engine for the core L110 liquid stage of the human-rated GSLV MkIII vehicle, as part of the engine qualification requirements for the Gaganyaan Programme."
 
 
 
As part of the engine qualification requirements for the Gaganyaan Programme, ISRO conducted the test at the engine test facility of ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri in Tamil Nadu.
 
According to the ISRO, the engine was fired for a duration of 240 seconds. The performance of the engine met the test objectives and the engine parameters were closely matching with the predictions during the entire duration of the test.

Soon after the announcement, SpaceX CEO Elon Musk has congratulated the Indian Space Research Organisation. Musk just wrote "Congratulations!" with India's flag emoticon.
 
 
 
ISRO plans to fly two human-rated unmanned GSLV-Mk III rockets before sending Indian astronauts in the third rocket.Gaganyaan is a crewed space programme of ISRO. Under the program, India is going to send For four Indian astronauts to space. As part of the Gaganyaan program, four Indian astronaut candidates have already undergone generic space flight training in Russia. India's Gaganyaan Mission was initially set to be launched in 2022.
 
During the Independence Day address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a formal announcement of the Gaganyaan program on August 15, 2018.
