Ducati Unica – Where Motorcycle Dreams Become Reality

The pilot project of Ducati Unica was none other than the company’s flagship superbike, the limited edition Superleggera V4. The standard Superleggera V4 is an outrageous bike in its own right with 234 horsepower in a bike weighing only 152.2kg (with the race kit).

For most people, owning a Ducati is a dream come true, a proper achievement; but what if you’re not like most people? What if to your eyes no Ducati is quite crazy enough or quite exclusive enough?

Fortunately if you are one of those people Ducati now has a solution which will satisfy your hunger for exclusivity. On the 27 th of January 2022 Ducati unveiled their all new Unica program. This Program is for those who want their Ducati to be one of a kind, totally unique and exclusive. This made to order customisation program is available for all bike models in the Ducati lineup and the options on offer and the whole process of idea to production is extremely exhilarating to say the least. The customer can directly interact with the designers and technicians of the Centro Stile Ducati to ensure the customer’s precise vision is made into a reality. Precious materials, exclusive colours with amazing finishing options and an infinitive scope for visual expression mean that the one of a kind Ducati you’ve always dreamed of can now be made. The customer will be able to track the progress of the bike, from the initial ideation sketches to the final product and each stage of the process is also carefully documented by Ducati. In addition to a crazy scope for visual customisation the customer can also choose between a wide and spectacular array of Ducati performance accessories to equip their bike with.

The customers or ‘Ducatisti’ who enter and get accepted into the Unica program will be able to periodically visit the Centro Stile Ducati atelier in person to see the progress of the creation of their dream machine. They’ll be able to experience the whole design and manufacturing process firsthand and witness the amount of detail and precision that goes into making a Ducati and more specifically, a customised one-off Ducati.

The pilot project of Ducati Unica was none other than the company’s flagship superbike, the limited edition Superleggera V4. The standard Superleggera V4 is an outrageous bike in its own right with 234 horsepower in a bike weighing only 152.2kg (with the race kit). Only 500 of these were ever made worldwide and each one had an MSRP of well over Rs.1.13 crore. The Unica project bike was none other than the final and 500 th Superleggera to roll off the production line and is owned by Dave Enders of North America. His request was that his bike should draw visual inspiration from the Lamborghini Aventador SVJ supercar. Ducati Newport Beach (California, USA) hosted an event to spotlight this masterpiece of a machine as soon as it was made.

Now this being such an exclusive program of a brand with such massive pedigree in the world of bikes means that there are a few terms and conditions to it. First of all these one of a kind Ducatis will cost a substantial amount more than their stock equivalents depending on the extent of customisation a Ducatisti requests. Also, because of the amount of detail, precision and research that will go into each one of these bikes Ducati will only be accepting 4 Unica projects per year and not everybody who applies will get in. Also to begin with the Unica program will be exclusive to North American clients only. The exclusivity, selection process and exuberant investment required to own one of these unique machines is definitely not for everyone but then again, it was never meant to be. The question is, are you worth it?
