Pune, Mar 28: Amid the ongoing crazy of Ola electric vehicles, an Ola S1 electric scooter caught on fire in the Dhanori area of Pune in Maharashtra. The incident was reported on Saturday when a brand new dark blue colored scooter caught fire on the side of a road.

Soon after the incident, Ola Electric issued a statement and said that the company is investigating the incident of its electric scooter catching fire in Pune and will take appropriate action. It assured that vehicle safety is of paramount importance and appropriate action will be taken.
 
Ola's official statement reads: "We are aware of an incident in Pune that happened with one of our scooters and are investigating to understand the root cause and will share more updates in the next few days. We're in constant touch with the customer who is absolutely safe. Vehicle safety is of paramount importance at Ola and we are committed to the highest quality standards in our products. We take this incident seriously and will take appropriate action and share more in the coming days."
 
 
 
Reacting to the incident, Ola co-founder and CEO Bhavish Aggarwal said in a tweet: "Safety is top priority. We're investigating this and will fix it." In a detailed statement on Twitter, the Bengaluru-based company stated: "We are aware of an incident in Pune that happened with one of our scooters in Pune and are investigating to understand the root cause and will share updates in the next few days."
 
Ola Electric has been on the receiving end of social media ever since the announcement of electric scooters was made. Firstly, a lot of people criticized Ola's business model to open bookings at just Rs 499. Later, its delivery was delayed multiple times.
 
Many scooter buyers are also concerned about the quality and a battery range of the S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters. This is the first safety-related incident reported since the company started deliveries of the electric scooter.
