SJVN signs MoU with Norwegian company for pilot membrane-based floating solar project

SJVN Limited said on Friday that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ocean Sun, Norway, to collaborate on innovative technologies in the green and clean energy sectors.

According to an official release, under this MoU, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), a fully owned subsidiary of SJVN, would build and finance a prototype membrane-based floating solar project of roughly 2 MW anywhere in India.Ocean Sun, Norway, will offer unique technology assistance for this initiative.

This MoU will open the door for the two countries to share technological expertise and collaborate.Once this pilot project has shown to be a success, the two businesses can look into expanding this technology on a larger scale along India's huge coastline in the south.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Ms May-Elin Stener, Norway's Ambassador to India, Dinesh Dayanand Jagdale, Joint Secretary, MNRE, Akhileshwar Singh, Director (Finance) of SJVN, SGEL's CEO Ajay Singh, and Ocean Sun's CEO, Norway.

"This MoU signing will strengthen the footprints of SJVN in the renewable energy sector and will help in achieving the Government of India's target of 50 percent installed capacity from non-fossil fuel sources by 2030," the business said in a statement.
