Somanath S., Chairman, ISRO/Secretary, Department of Space, inaugurated a series of important facilities required for the advancement of solid motor realisation at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC-SHAR).
A. Rajarajan, Director of SDSC-SHAR, as well as Directors from other ISRO Centers/Units, were in attendance.
SDSC-SHAR is in charge of developing solid motors/segments for ISRO's renowned launch vehicles like as PSLV, GSLV, LVM3, and SSLV. It plans to build 29 primary and 16 auxiliary facilities to boost solid propellant production capabilities, with the goal of increasing capacity by twofold.
The first part of this endeavour was launched today with the unveiling of five important facilities dedicated to solid propellant mixing, casting, machining, and non-destructive testing of cast segments.
These new facilities will be used to produce PSLV solid motors for industries as well as to cast solid motors for start-up enterprises.
