Reliance announces new details about JioPhone Next; to launch Phone on Diwali

Mumbai, October 25: And the wait is over! Reliance Jio has confirmed that the much-awaited 'Jio Phone Next', which was developed in partnership with Google, will hit stores on Diwali. Jio has also dropped a small video titled 'Making of JioPhone Next' on youtube.

The short video provides insight into the vision and idea behind the launch of the upcoming JioPhone Next. The handset is tailor-made for Indian audiences by Indians. The Indian-made JioPhone Next aims to provide every Indian with equal opportunity and equal access to digital technology.
In the video, Jio has revealed that its upcoming affordable 4G handset will run on Pragati OS, powered by Android. "Pragati OS is a world-class operating system that has been built specifically for India and is at the heart of JioPhone Next," said the company in a statement
It has been engineered by the best minds at Jio and Google with an objective to bring Pragati (progress) for all while offering a truly seamless experience at an affordable cost, according to industry experts.
Besides, Reliance also revealed that JioPhone Next will run on a Qualcomm processor. "The Qualcomm processor on the JioPhone Next focuses on delivering optimized connectivity and location technologies along with optimizations in device performance, audio, and battery," said the company.
Moreover, the device will come with a Voice assistant to help users to operate the device (Open App, manage settings, etc.) and get information/content from the internet easily in a language familiar to them. It will also come with ‘Translate’ functionality, this will allow users to have any screen translated to the language of their choice.
The JioPhone Next was originally announced at the Annual General Meeting held by Reliance this year. It should be noted that the Jio Phone Next launch was scheduled for September, but it got dragged due to semiconductor shortages worldwide and now the Mukesh Ambani-owned Jio plans to reveal it on November 4.
