New Delhi, December 03: Excited for eclipses? Then December 4 is going to be a great day for Space enthusiasts as this year's last total solar eclipse is going to take place tomorrow. This would also be only the second solar eclipse of 2021. Unlike the previous Annular Solar Eclipse that occurred on June 10, this celestial event will be a Total Solar Eclipse.

In the December 4 eclipse, space enthusiasts will be able to spot a partial and total eclipse in some of the regions. According to NASA, a solar eclipse is an astronomical phenomenon in which the sun, the earth, and the moon all align in a straight line such that the earth’s satellite blocks out the sunlight from reaching the earth, as a result of which a shadow is cast on earth.

Unfortunately, this time the polar total solar eclipse will not be visible in India. It can only be seen in parts of South America, Australia, South Africa, and countries in the Southern Atlantic, apart from Antarctica. If the weather permits observers would be able to see the million-degree hot solar corona during the totality phase.

Astronomy enthusiasts around the globe can see this celestial event live. The December 4 Solar Eclipse will be live-streamed on NASA's YouTube channel from Union Glacier in Antarctica. The streaming is expected to start at 1:30 am EST (12 pm IST) and will end at 3:37 am (2:07 pm IST).

The next partial solar eclipse will take place on April 30, 2022, whereas the next total solar eclipse will occur on April 20, 2023.
