New Delhi, March 10: Department of Telecommunications inaugurated an online certification course on 5G Technology for Government Officers through Video Conferencing.
While formally launching the 5G certification course PicSecretary, Department of Telecommunications, Anshu Prakash said 66that this course would act as a capsule program for learning overall 5G technology from the perspective of Policymaking. Secretary (Telecom) highlighted the importance of exploiting the potential of 5G to the full and making possibilities like Machine-to-Machine Communications, Internet of Things a reality.
The premier training institute of DOT, the National Telecommunications Institute for Policy Research, Innovation and Training (NTIPRIT), is going to conduct the certification course. Under that, the institute will conduct the first of its kind 36-hour (12 weeks) online 5G Certification Course. Although the course is currently only available for Government officials, it will be offered to other stakeholders at a later date.
Secretary of DOT also directed NTIPRIT to come up with such training programs for Officers of other departments and ministries in the future. DoT hopes that this course would act as a capsule program for learning overall 5G technology from the perspective of Policymaking.
The inaugural session was also addressed by Bharat Kumar Jog, Member (Services), Digital Communications Commission and U.K. Srivastava, Senior Deputy Director-General and Head of NTIPRIT, and other senior government officials.
Besides, Member (Services), Digital Communications Commission in his address congratulated NTIPRIT for launching the 5G certification course for Officers of Government of India and stressed on design, development, and conduction of similar capacity building programs on 5G use cases for Other Central and State Government officials.
