Google launches “Women Will” web platform to empower the "Bhartiya Mahila"

New Delhi, March 09: Marking the importance of “International Women’s Day", Google India kick-started a new web platform 'Women Will' to empower Indian women. This platform will provide its support to 1 million rural women in India to become entrepreneurs.

Taking it to Twitter, Pichai wrote "Today at #GoogleForIndia #WomenWill we announced a commitment to support 1M women entrepreneurs in rural India, and a $25M Google Org Impact Challenge for Women & Girls to fund projects addressing systemic barriers to economic equality globally."
 
 
 
 
Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, speaking at the event, said, "Building on the Internet Saathi program success, we're making a new commitment to help 1 million women in rural villages in India to become entrepreneurs through business tutorials, tools, and mentorship."
 
This web portal can be accessed in English and Hindi languages. It will offer guidance to the aspiring women in villages to turn their interest or a hobby like beauty services, tailoring, home tuition, food processing, into the business. It will also be providing guidance to manage and promote the business. In the initial phase, Google will work initially with 2,000 ‘Internet Saathis’ to help other women turn entrepreneurs.Google has launched the Internet Saathi program in 2015 to impart digital literacy training to women in villages.
Apart from that initiative, Google.org also launched the 'Impact Challenge for Women and Girls”. Under this, Google will offer $25 million in grants to the non-profits and social enterprises in India and other countries which are providing its support to the women and girls to reach their full potential.
