Ola electric scooter receives 'tremendous response', gets 1 Lakh bookings in just 24 hours

Bengaluru, July 19: Soon after the ride-hailing major Ola opened the reservation for its Make In India electric scooter, the company received a record-breaking 100,000 reservations within 24 hours. With that, Ola the electric scooter has become the most pre-booked scooter in the world.

Ola Electric opened the reservation for its electric scooter on the evening of July 15. It can be reserved for Rs 499 via its official website olaelectric.com.
 
Talking about the event, Ola Chairman and Group CEO Bhavish Aggarwal thanked and congratulated the company for this explosive start, he said that he was thrilled by such responses from the customers. He said, "I am thrilled by the tremendous response from customers across India for our first electric vehicle. The unprecedented demand is a clear indicator of shifting consumer preferences to EVs. This is a huge step forward in our mission to transition the world to sustainable mobility."
 
 
 
On the first day of the booking, the heavy demand for the electric scooter resulted in the crashing of the website. Ola's chairman revealed that the company did not anticipate the crazy demand and didn’t plan enough scalability for the website. However, the official website was quickly maintained and the booking continued.
 
 
 
After the record, the Chairman of Mahindra Group  Anand Mahindra praised Ola for this record. He tweeted, "No matter how this scooter ultimately fares, it is exciting to see courage & risk-taking being rewarded. Ola claims the electric scooter would be class-leading in terms of speed, range, boot space as well as technology. In addition, the new scooter will have an app-based key for a keyless experience. The company has stated that the model would be priced aggressively to make it widely accessible. Ola plans to reveal the features and price of the scooter in the coming days.
 
The scooter is a suitable example of the Make In India Initiative. It would be manufactured at the company’s two-wheeler factory, being built in Tamil Nadu.
