New Delhi, August 16: In a big boost to 'Make In India', the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited successfully carried out the ground run Low-speed Taxi Trials of the Hindustan-228 (VT-KNR) aircraft for DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) 'Type Certification'.
The company took to social media and informed about the milestone. According to the compnay, the event was part of the 75th Anniversary of India's Independence Day Celebration at HAL's Kapur Facility.
“This is a major milestone for the first fixed-wing Made-in-India civil aircraft in India. It is a step forward towards strengthening regional air connectivity”, Sajal Prakash, CEO, HAL, commented on the occasion.
Indranil Chakraborty, Director, DGCA said the type certification will enable HAL to get the international certification for the aircraft. The 19-seat multirole utility aircraft complies with the latest FAR 23 certification requirements.
It is built for various applications such as VIP transport, passenger transport, air ambulance, flight inspection roles, cloud seeding, and recreational activities like Para jumping, aerial surveillance, photography, and cargo applications, an official release from the HAL outlined.
The HAL has developed Hindustan-228 aircraft to support the Regional Connectivity Scheme (UDAN) of the Government of India. The aircraft could be utilized by civil operators and state governments for their intra and inter-state connectivity with training, maintenance, and logistical support.
