Arianespace to launch India's GSAT-24 satellite on June 22 from Kourou

In a major development, European space agency Arianespace will soon be going to launch India's newest space PSU NSIL's first demand-driven communication satellite using its Ariane 5 rocket on June 22 from Kourou. Indian space research orgnisation gave an update on the mission on Tuesday.

ISRO informed that GSAT-24 is undergoing various checks at cleanroom facilities in French Guiana. “As part of launch campaign activities, the satellite is presently undergoing health/ performance checks at cleanroom facilities in French Guiana. Launch on-board Ariane-V VA257 flight is scheduled for June 22, 2022,” ISRO said on Wednesday.
 
 
 
The NSIL is undertaking a GSAT-24 satellite mission as its first demand-driven mission post space reforms. The satellite has been developed by ISRO. The satellite and its allied equipment were shipped to Kourou, French Guiana on May 18, using C-17 Globemaster aircraft.
 
GSAT-24 is a 24-Ku band communication satellite weighing 4,180kg with pan India coverage for meeting the direct-to-home (DTH) application needs. It should be noted that NSIL has leased the entire satellite capacity to Tata Play.
