Cabinet approves MoU between India, France in digital technologies & cyber security

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has authorized the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and France on digital technology collaboration. The MoU will be signed by the French Republic's Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the Ministry of Economy, Finance, Industrial and Digital Sovereignty.

According to the government, the MoU aims to encourage closer collaboration and the sharing of information relevant to digital technologies, and will mutually support each participant's goal of promoting access to digital technology in their nation in line with the MoU.
 
G2G and B2B bilateral cooperation in digital technologies will be expanded. The Memorandum of Understanding envisions greater collaboration leading to IT job prospects.
 
The partnership under this MoU will commence on the day India and France sign it and will endure for five years. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has been tasked with promoting international cooperation in developing and frontier information technology fields through bilateral and regional collaboration frameworks.
 
In order to promote international collaboration in the sphere of digital technologies, MeitY has signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with partner organizations and agencies from several countries on bilateral and multilateral problems. According to the statement, there is an urgent need in this shifting paradigm for exploring commercial prospects and attracting investment in the digital industry through such joint cooperation.
 
"India and France have a long history of strategic cooperation in the Indo-European region." "The two countries are committed to cultivating a thriving digital eco system and fostering collaboration that empowers their citizens and ensures their full participation in the digital century," according to the statement.
 
According to the release, India and France are pursuing an ambitious bilateral cooperation on advanced digital technologies, particularly in the fields of supercomputing, cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and quantum technologies, based on the Indo-French Road Map on Cyber Security and Digital Technology, which was announced in 2019.
