The Ahmedabad-based Nav Wireless Technologies Pvt Ltd (NavTech), a pioneer in Light Fidelity (LiFi) technology, has signed an MoU with the Space Applications Centre of the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).SAC, one of ISRO's primary centers, has collaborated with Nav Wireless Technologies to develop light-based high-speed communication for satellite communication in orbit.

For space communication, space organizations have already begun to use optical wireless technology rather than radio frequency.SAC will employ high-speed secure quantum key communication by light from a base station to a satellite in space, as well as terrestrial connection.

SAC will be able to provide quantum key distribution (QKD) and pointing acquisition and tracking (PAT) for satellite-to-satellite communications in orbit using this technology. The technique will be employed in ISRO's future space exploration initiatives.

The three-year agreement was signed between SAC/ISRO and Nav Wireless Technologies. Nav Wireless Technologies, as recommended by the Department of Telecom (DoT), is the first firm in India to supply this technology to SAC, ISRO.

Hardik Soni, co-founder and CTO of Nav Wireless Technologies Pvt Ltd., commented on this event, saying, "It is a proud moment for Nav Wireless Technologies as it will contribute to ISRO's great projects." Only a few space organizations throughout the world are now deploying LiFi technology for secure connection between base stations and for global satellite communications." Li/Fi, also known as Light Fidelity, uses a light beam spectrum to transmit data in both indoor and outdoor contexts.

This technique offers ultra-fast data transfers and is especially useful in crowded radio spectrum, as well as in remote places where fiber optic cables or networks are not accessible.

Nav Wireless Technologies Pvt Ltd has been in the forefront of LiFi research and development in India for over a year. The firm has established itself as the country's sole registered entity committed to researching the possibilities of LiFi technology. Using Optical Wireless Communication (OWC), Nav Wireless Technologies Pvt Ltd has demonstrated the most feasible and practicable method for the statewide deployment of 5G services and BharatNet rural connectivity.
