Purwar told PTI at the India Mobile Congress that the business intends to upgrade its 4G service to 5G by June.
"The BSNL 4G service will go live in Punjab in December." We have already completed the requisite hardening for a network with 200 locations.

Purwar explained that "we are in the process of installing 3,000 sites in Punjab."
According to him, BSNL would progressively enhance network deployment to 6,000 sites per month, followed by 9,000, 12,000, and 15,000 sites per month.

"Our goal is to complete the 4G rollout by June 2024." "We will transition to 5G services after June 2024," Purwar stated.
TCS and the government-owned ITI have received orders from BSNL for the deployment of a 4G network that can be upgraded to 5G.

Purwar stated that once the 4G rollout is done, the BSNL would have adequate spectrum to provide 5G services.
