US-based electric car manufacturer Tesla on Monday named Indian-origin Vaibhav Taneja as the company's new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) after the previous finance chief Zachary Kirkhorn stepped down from the position. Taneja (45) replaced Kirkhorn in addition to his current role as Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) of the company.

In a company filing, the automaker described Kirkhorn's 13-year-old tenure as one of “tremendous expansion and growth” and said that he will “continue to serve Tesla through the end of the year to support a seamless transition.”

“Tesla thanks Mr. Kirkhorn for his significant contributions. Mr Kirkhorn will ,” it added.

As I shift my responsibilities to support this transition, I want to thank the talented, passionate, and hard-working employees at Tesla, who have accomplished things many thought not possible,” he wrote.

Who is Vaibhav Taneja?

  • Vaibhav Taneja is 45 years old and hails from India. He is a commerce graduate from the University of Delhi. Prior to his appointment as CFO, Taneja served as Tesla's Chief Accounting Officer (CAO) since March 2019. He will continue to hold this position alongside his new role as CFO.
